Tool and equipment management
A record of which tool left the crib, who took it, and whether it came back.
Tool loss looks like a small budget line in most plants. The time a crew spends hunting for a tool at shift start is not small.
Tagged tools are read out of and back into the crib, and the list of missing items appears by itself at the end of the shift.
What the system does
Issue and return tracking
Who holds a tool is on record, and anything not returned is listed when the shift ends.
Crib counting
The whole cabinet is read at once instead of item by item.
Calibration tracking
Calibration dates are held per measuring tool, and an overdue tool is taken out of service.
Foreign object control
In aviation and food environments an exit count guards against a tool being left behind in the work area.
