Challenge
Tool counts after maintenance were manual, and a missing tool was hunted for before the aircraft could be released. Finding a piece of ground equipment meant asking over the radio.
Approach
Tools and equipment carry on-metal tags, with readers on the hangar doors and in the tool cabinets. Closing a cabinet produces the list of what is missing.
