In a rolling mill or a foundry an adhesive label has nothing to hold on to. The surface is hot, usually dirty and dusty, and the adhesive fails on first contact.
These tags carry no adhesive at all. They are hung, wired through, or mechanically fixed to the product. The composite structure holds its form between 400 and 800 °C, and the print stays readable through the heat.
