Every vehicle that stops to present a card at a barrier builds a queue. A windscreen tag reads from several metres, so nobody winds a window down and the vehicle slows without stopping.
The tag sits on the inside of the glass, out of the rain and away from the car wash. It is built to fail if someone tries to peel it off, which is the point in subscription parking and authorised vehicle schemes.
