In textiles the label is part of what the customer sees. A woven tag works without disturbing that: it sits behind the care label, stays invisible from outside, and feels like the brand label next to it.
The same tag is read for batch control in production, for counting in the warehouse and for inventory in store. When an item comes back as a return, the same number identifies the batch it came from.
