To number every item in a tool crib, the tag has to sit on the tool without getting in the way. A 6 x 3 mm body fits on a plier handle, a spanner head or the edge of a die.
Water resistance matters for tools that get washed down or live in oil. Anti-collision behaviour means a crib full of tags does not drown itself out, so the whole cabinet counts in one read.
